This week we will be carrying out some tidying up with the improvement works completed except for the  carriageway resurfacing and defect list to complete.

A local carpenter is repairing damage to wooden fascia panels week commencing 8th April, 2013.

The resurfacing work that has to be done under a road closure, due to the nature of the work and the width of the roads, has been rescheduled due to the adverse weather last week to the following three Sundays :-

Sunday 7th April, 14th April and 21st April 2013

The resurfacing work is weather dependant and may be cancelled at short notice.

We will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum during this period and we would very much appreciate your patience and cooperation during the completion of these works.

This week we will be working through a remedial list which consists of a variety of defects mainly damage to rendering and wooden fascia panels. All rendering defects are completed apart from the painting of them which is in hand. A local carpenter is repairing damage to wooden fascia panels.

Due to the adverse weather last weekend the plane out and laying of binder course from the start of High Street to Back Fields at the bottom end of Old Street was cancelled.

 In this circumstance a new program of works will be issued shortly.

Today we will continue the works started last week. Carrying out alterations to property downpipes, inserting bends onto the down-pipes to direct water across the footways, through fluted channels.

Resurfacing Works

Due to the adverse weather this weekend the plane out and laying of binder course from the start of High Street to Back Fields at the bottom end of Old Street was cancelled.  A new program of works will be issued in this circumstance.

Upton-upon-Severn - High Street & Old Street improvement works

This week we have been carrying out alterations to property downpipes, inserting bends onto the down-pipes to direct water across the footways, through fluted channels.

We have a remedial list which consists of a variety of defects mainly damage to rendering and wooden fascia panels. All rendering defects are completed apart from the painting of them which is in hand. Photographic evidence of damage to wooden fascia panels will be handed to a local carpenter today with a view to completing the works next week.

We have arranged for a window cleaner to clean all windows on shop frontages and private property where reconstruction works have taken place, this will not be done until all resurfacing works are completed (15th April, 2013).

Resurfacing Works

The resurfacing work has to be done under a road closure due to the nature of the work and the width of the roads. The work is being carried out on Sundays only and the road will be open at all other times. The work is weather dependent, the current programme is:-

Sunday 17/03/2013 Closure of High Street plane out the carriageway and laying binder course - Completed

Sunday 24/03/2013 Closure of Old Street to plane out and lay binder course from the start of High Street to Back Fields at the bottom end of Old Street.

Sunday 31/03/2013 No work due to Bank Holiday

Sunday 07/04/13 Closure of High Street and Old Street to lay wearing course and replace the lining in Old Street,the Bus Stop and disabled parking in High Street.

Sunday 14/04/2013 Closure of High Street to complete the surfacing work and lining on adjacent road junctions to High Street.

Today we will plan to complete laying the red ashphalt top surface to the footways on the build out in Old Street juncion with Backfields Lane, Old Street east side and on Church Street.

This will be carried out under Stop and Go traffic management to minimise disruption to the traffic.

This picture was taken earlier in the week when the top surface was laid outside the old HSBC bank juncion of New Street and High Street.

No work is planned for this weekend.

Today we will be working on the east side of Old Street laying the red ashphalt surface dressing.

We have been asked to extend a length of footway in Church Street which will be excavated and  the  base course laid today.

This work will be carried out under Stop and Go traffic management.

Today we will be working on Old Street on the east side continuing with kerbing and drainage works. We are unable to lay the red ashphalt top surface today as the materials have not arrived as planned.

This will now be laid tomorrow once the materials have been delivered.

To ease traffic movement today Stop and Go traffic management will be used.

Today we will be working on the west side of Old Street laying red ashphalt to the footpath. Kerb stones are also being laid.

To cause the least disruption to traffic this will be carried out under stop and go traffic management.

Today we will be laying the red ashphalt surface layer to the footway on High Street. We will also be laying some odd kerbs on the east side of Old Street. The traffic will be managed by Stop and Go.

Today we are installing kerbing on Old Street.  To minimise disruption to the traffic this will be carried out on a stop and go.

The plan today was originally to lay the red ashphalt surface course on the High Street but unfortunately the materials have not arrived on time, therefore this will be laid on Monday.

Old Street will be closed this Sunday 3rd March, 2013 whilst another contractor carries out some works. We are taking the opportunity to minimise disruption to install some kerbing along Old Street.
