Upton-upon-Severn - High Street & Old Street improvement works

As a result of the current flooding problems we have re-scheduled our works programme so as not to affect the diversion that is in place through the centre of Upton-Upon-Severn whilst the Hanley Road is closed due to flooding.

Some localised footway and drainage work will be carried out to the end of the week but none of the work will involve temporary traffic lights or closure of the road.

We are monitoring river levels and will continue to update this blog on a daily basis and will provide information as soon as we can so please visit daily for up to date information.

Due to the flooding conditions our programme of work has been affected again today.

Therefore today we will be excavating the footway ready for resurfacing outside 38 High Street and outside the Star Hotel this will be on both sides of the footway.

Due to the flood conditions today we plan to re-instate the footway on Old Street on the west side as you are approaching the town centre as soon as possible.  This is to elevate the traffic problems with the traffic lights that have been set up.

 

Until the flood conditions subside we will not be working where traffic management is required.

Today the improved weather conditions have allowed us to start the improvement works.

 

We have started to install curbs on Old Street on the west side as you are approaching the town centre. The plan is also to install fluted drainage channel's to these footways.

Due to the current cold weather conditions, improvements works on High Street and Old Street continue to be affected. The revised start date is Monday 28th January, 2013.

 

If weather conditions improve as forecast the first stage of the work in Old Street to replace the damaged kerbs and resurface the footways will commence then.

Upton-upon-Severn - High Street & Old Street improvement works

An improvement scheme to High Street and Old Street in Upton-upon-Severn has been programmed to be undertaken, with the works commencing on Monday 21st January 2013 with a duration of approximately two months.

The programme of works consists of the following:-

• Resurfacing of the carriageway and footway in the High Street and lower High Street to adjoin the Environment Agency scheme at the riverside.
• Re-kerbing of High Street, incorporating build-outs and new uncontrolled pedestrian crossing points.
• Associated drainage works in High Street.
• Resurfacing of footways in Old Street, up to its junction with Backfields Lane.
• Construction of a build-out in Old Street on the junction of Backfields Lane, also incorporating new uncontrolled pedestrian crossing points.
• Relocation of the bus stop currently located in Old Street, to the High Street.
• Incorporation of a new disabled parking bay in High Street.
• A new limited waiting parking bay in New Street.
• Installation of new finger post signs.

A permenant site office will be located on Old Street opposite the Baptist Church. A Public Liaison Officer will be visiting the site on a daily basis, plus the Foreman will be available to listen to and answer any concerns that you may have.
